Blood is the lifeline. Most diseases require some sort of blood transfusion or the other. A blood bank is therefore an integral part of any hospital, given the number of accidents and surgeries that happen in a day anywhere in the world. It is that part of a hospital that it relies on at all times, and especially during emergencies. And the blood for this blood bank comes from individuals like you and me, who presently are disease free and are able to help our fellow human beings who have been in accidents, suffered injuries, undergone surgeries, or have other illnesses that demand blood transfusion to return to normal life. That is the importance of blood donation. Lives are worth the wait, the pin prick, the loss of 10 percent of your weight. That’s what a blood donation feels like and what it saves is three lives. You heard that right. A single unit of blood can save up to 3 lives. This is because your blood consists of several components, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets and the requirements at different times would be for a specific component of the blood.
On a global scale, millions of lives are benefitted every year by it, and participating in a blood donation drive is a very simple way to contribute. What individuals like you and me can do right now is donate our blood to these blood banks when we can and preferably before we take other medications which may exclude us from this noble act. We realised this responsibility at Technomak. When the UAE’S Health Ministry requested us to organize a blood donation camp on our premises at our head office, we complied most willingly and contributed in a big way. A number of people actively gave blood and helped the blood donation camp become a major success. Technomak is indebted to them, and the society at large too is.
